Nanyuki Airfield - Tropic Air KenyaNanyuki Airfield serves both private and commercial air operators. With only one landing strip, the airfield handles mostly small light single engine aircraft and some larger twin aircraft. Shadowed by Mount Kenya, Nanyuki airfield with its simple but attractive wooden buildings, extensive mowed lawns, and charming atmosphere has become one of Kenya’s most talked about airfields. Adding to its charm is Barney’s Bar & Restaurant that serves excellent coffee, burgers and salads. The airfield is home to air charter and helicopter operator - Tropic Air. With its fleet of Cessna aircraft and Eurocopters, it is amazing to think that Tropic Air started off with one historic Beaver aircraft, carrying out scenic flights over the peaks of Mount Kenya. Open to the public, Nanyuki Airfield and Tropic Air host local school children for educational school trips. Children of all ages from nursery school to college are welcomed here and given a tour, which includes viewing the cock pit of our Cessna aircraft. Most week-days, at east one school group can be seen enjoying the sights of planes landing and taking-off. GPS Coordinates: S00 03.68 E037 02.54
