Head Mountain Rescue officer, George Ombuki and Simon Gitau, Assistant Director Mountain Conservation Area, receive 13 ruck-sacks for the mountain rescue team on Mount Kenya, from a generous supporter, facilitated by Tropic Air.

Mount Kenya, with its abundant and rich biodiversity is a massive attraction to visitors and mountaineers.  The team is dedicated to the safety of climbers, and often has to carry out complex rescue operations, with support from Tropic Air’s helicopters.  We have a great relationship with the Kenya Wildlife Service  – both their mountain rescue team and rangers – and have worked side-by-side for countless years.

Top of AFRICA – flying at 19,700 feet in our B3 helicopter. How totally wonderful to see so much snow on the summit of Kilimanjaro.  Mount Kilimanjaro is Africa’s tallest – and one of the seven summits, standing at 19,341ft.

Good to get feedback from the inside – Tim Mwangi spent some time with us as trainee, and got a true insight into the life of a Tropic Air pilot!

“It was such a privileged flying at Tropic Air in June as an apprentice co-pilot! Had so much fun with the team and got motivated to complete my commercial training.

A night of heli fly camping on the top of Lekuruki Hill in far northern Laikipia- overlooking the Sieku Valley. Sleeping under the stars with friends, and a little company from Samburu pastoralists who were tending to their cattle at the base of the hill.
