Donations for the Mountain Rescue team

KWS Mountain Rescue team, Mount KenyaHead Mountain Rescue officer, George Ombuki and Simon Gitau, Assistant Director Mountain Conservation Area, receive 13 ruck-sacks for the mountain rescue team on Mount Kenya, from a generous supporter, facilitated by Tropic Air.

Mount Kenya, with its abundant and rich biodiversity is a massive attraction to visitors and mountaineers.  The team is dedicated to the safety of climbers, and often has to carry out complex rescue operations, with support from Tropic Air’s helicopters.  We have a great relationship with the Kenya Wildlife Service  – both their mountain rescue team and rangers – and have worked side-by-side for countless years.

Words of a Trainee pilot

Good to get feedback from the inside – Tim Mwangi spent some time with us as trainee, and got a true insight into the life of a Tropic Air pilot!

“It was such a privileged flying at Tropic Air in June as an apprentice co-pilot! Had so much fun with the team and got motivated to complete my commercial training.

Baby Elephant on Board

Tropic Air supported the rescue of a six month old baby elephant from a remote part of Samburu in Northern Kenya.  She was abandoned by her herd having fallen into a well, and was taken into the care of wildlife rangers who alerted the 51 Degrees anti-poaching rapid response team.  This is the first time that our new H130 helicopter has had a baby elephant on board – she was airlifted to the Reteti (R.E.S.C.U.E) center for orphan elephants, located in Namyunyak Conservancy at the foot to the Mathews Range.
